Orange Walk Police Probe Fatal Shooting of 24-Year-Old Man

Police in the north are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting of a man in Orange Walk District, as authorities work to determine the motive behind the killing.  The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Albertito Pott.  Love News understands that Pott was sitting under a house with his uncle when they came under attack.  As many as eight shots were fired in the incident with Pott sustaining at least three gunshots to the body.  During a special briefing held earlier today, Hilberto Romero, Regional Commander for the Eastern Division, provided preliminary information on the case. He indicated that police responded to reports of the incident and have since launched efforts to gather statements, review evidence, and identify those responsible.

ACP Hilberto Romero, Head of National Crimes Investigation Branch: “This morning around 7:15 p.m. police responded to a shooting incident in Orange Walk. Upon arrival they saw the lifeless body of a male person with gunshot injuries. He was identified as Albertito Pot. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival information that Pot was at the ear at the time along with another male person when somebody jumped a fence and fired several shots causing his fatal injuries. Investigation into this matter continues.”

Reporter: I believe Mr. Pot was known to the police.

Reporter: What was he involved in as far as you are know? 
ACP Hilberto Romero, Head of National Crimes Investigation Branch:“We did some investigations where he was brought in for questioning. Some shootings.”

Pott is not unfamiliar to law enforcement or to the public record. Archives show that he was previously involved in a shooting incident back in February 2023 in Trial Farm Village, where he and another individual, Jonathan Wicab, were shot by gunmen from a passing vehicle. Authorities are appealing to members of the public who may have information to come forward as investigations continue.
