Our Lady of Guadalupe Primary School Belmopan Students Win National FIFA Coding and Robotics Expo

A group of young innovators from Our Lady of Guadalupe Primary School in Belmopan is celebrating a major national achievement after capturing first place at the FIFA Foundation Coding and Robotics Expo.  The winning team, Team Robotcellot, impressed judges with a forward-thinking project titled “Robotics for Sustainable School Agriculture.” The initiative stood out for successfully combining robotics technology with real-world development challenges.  According to organizers, the project was specifically designed to support four of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, namely Zero Hunger, Quality Education, Responsible Consumption and Production, and Climate Action.  Judges praised the students for effectively linking classroom robotics to practical agricultural solutions that could benefit school communities.  Team members Zarda Pas, Abigail Rivero, Gerome Castro, Kayden Quintanilla, and Kenisha Ramos presented a detailed, step-by-step demonstration of how their system works, showcasing both technical skill and a strong understanding of sustainability concepts.

The victory marks a significant milestone for the budding engineers and highlights the growing role of STEM education in Belize’s primary schools.  School officials say the achievement reflects the hard work of the students, teachers, and mentors who continue to nurture innovation at the primary level.
