PACT and APAMO Renew Partnership to Strengthen Belize’s Protected Areas

The Protected Areas Conservation Trust, or PACT, and the Association of Protected Areas Management Organizations, known as APAMO, have renewed their partnership to strengthen the management of Belize’s protected areas. The two organizations recently signed a new three-year strategic agreement aimed at improving the National Protected Areas System and supporting the community-based and non-governmental organizations that help co-manage protected areas across the country. Under the agreement, PACT will continue providing financial support to strengthen APAMO’s institutional capacity and long-term sustainability. The partnership will focus on improving governance, enhancing protected areas management, expanding public education and advocacy, and developing sustainable financing solutions. During the first year, both organizations will work to strengthen operations, increase public awareness about conservation, and expand technical support for APAMO’s member organizations. Officials say the renewed partnership reinforces their shared commitment to protecting Belize’s natural heritage while ensuring the country’s protected areas continue to provide lasting environmental, social, and economic benefits.
