Jamaica’s Parliament will officially be dissolved this Friday, August 15, clearing the way for the September 3 General Election.
The announcement came via a proclamation signed and sealed by Governor-General Sir Patrick Allen, acting on the advice of Prime Minister Andrew Holness.
The dissolution is in keeping with the provisions of the Representation of the People Act and the Constitution.
It was published in the Jamaica Gazette on August 11.
August 18 was also officially set as Nomination Day for candidates vying for a seat in the House of Representatives.
