Parsan appointed T&T ambassador to UN

Dr. Neil Parsan has been appointed Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to the United Nations, New York.

Sean Sobers, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, presented the Instrument of Appointment on behalf of the Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar.

Ambassador Parsan assumed duties at the Permanent Mission of Trinidad and Tobago to the United Nations, New York, on August 11.

The jurisdiction of the Permanent Mission includes United Nations organisations where Trinidad and Tobago advances its positions on matters of international peace and security, sustainable development, human rights, and other priority areas.

Dr. Parsan previously served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Trinidad and Tobago to the United States of America, the United Mexican States, and as Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States. He also held the post of Executive Secretary for Integral Development at the OAS, where he led initiatives across the Western Hemisphere in the areas of sustainable development, education, public sector reform, and regional cooperation.

Dr. Parsan has experience in international diplomacy, global policy development, and public-private partnerships. He is the recipient of awards and commendations for contributions to diplomacy, education, and humanitarian work.

The Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago stated that Ambassador Parsan’s appointment is expected to strengthen the country’s representation at the United Nations and support the advancement of its interests internationally.
