Opposition spokesman on energy, Phillip Paulwell, is again pushing for the Holness administration to declare its position on the renewal of the licence to Jamaica Public Service Company, JPS.
Speaking at the People’s National Party’s divisional conference in Allman Town on Wednesday, Paulwell says there’s no evidence that talks are underway.
The JPS’ All Island Electricity Licence expires in 2027, with renewal talks set to begin later this year.
In March, energy minister, Daryl Vaz, stated that the government had already written to JPS about negotiations concerning a new licence.
Paulwell says the opposition should be included in the process.
