World and Olympic long jump silver medallist, Wayne Pinnock, says he made the decision to switch allegiance to Turkey so he could provide for his family.
Pinnock, who won the event at the London Diamond League on Saturday, says God provided him with opportunity to secure his future financially and he was not prepared to let it slip.
Pinnock was speaking publicly for the first time since he and Olympic discus champion Roje Stona, triple jumper Jaydon Hibbert and Olympic shot put bronze medallist Rajindra Campbell made the decision to make the switch.
The former Kingston College star says he loves Jamaica but he has to go where he’s appreciated.
Pinnock say he has never been shown appreciation by his country despite his outstanding performances at global championships.
