Heritage Petroleum Company Limited says repair, clean-up and restoration works following a pipeline leak at San Fernando East Secondary School have been completed.
In a statement issued Monday, the company said the affected section of the trunk pipeline was repaired and the area fully remediated.
Heritage reported that independent gas and air quality tests confirmed that readings were within acceptable safety limits. In addition, impacted materials were removed and personnel and equipment demobilised from the compound.
The company said school officials have been formally advised that environmental conditions are safe and classes can resume.
Classes were disrupted on Friday as Heritage carried out mop-up operations after oil was discovered on the school’s compound.
The closure raised concerns among some parents and residents.
