As land distribution is already underway, Area Representative Andre Perez says an even larger housing initiative is on the horizon for northern San Pedro. Perez revealed that plans are advancing for the development of a new planned community that could eventually provide an estimated one thousand residential lots. The proposed project is expected to include the necessary infrastructure and services needed to support long-term residential development on the island. According to Perez, the initiative is aimed at creating sustainable housing opportunities for future generations while helping to ease the growing demand for residential land on Ambergris Caye.

Andre Perez, BRS Area Representative: “There is an entire master plan for the up north for the North Ambergris development. There is also a master plan. Remember there’s an investment of $300 million that is coming in for north to be developed that calls for an airport. That is a master plan we need to do and it deals also with the structures. But the planned community we’re doing right now up north which is about 12 miles up north we’re doing a planned community of a thousand lots. So all that comes into place to put in sewer because BWS already has a property there to settle the plants that the sewer ponds that needs to be for up north and that comes with streets we have to have electricity and we have to have water. So all of that comes with a massive plan. Again it relates to what was done in the last 15-20 years where the growth was done there unchecked no roads no nothing so we are playing catch up at this point in time. Again I’m not blaming but we’re moving forward so we know we we must deal with it because we are playing catch up at this point in time.”
