PM Briceño Calls for Stronger Africa-Caribbean Ties at International Forum on African-Caribbean Leadership

Prime Minister John Briceño has called for closer ties between Africa and the Caribbean in trade, climate action and development. He made the appeal today in New York, where he delivered the keynote address at the 12th International Forum on African-Caribbean Leadership, held alongside the United Nations General Assembly.  Briceño said Belize’s place in both the Caribbean and Central America gives it a role in building those connections. He called for greater cooperation on investment, development financing, technology, health, education and skills training. The forum brought together government, business and diaspora leaders under the theme, “The Global African Alliance: Reimagining Solidarity, Sovereignty and South-South Cooperation.” Briceño was also presented with the Distinguished Leadership Award for Economic Resilience and Regional Integration.
