
Prime Minister John Briceño departed Belize yesterday for personal leave. His personal leave will run until the end of the month and will follow with an official visit to Osaka, Japan, on August 1, to attend the prestigious Expo 2025 Osaka. During his time in Japan, Prime Minister Briceño is scheduled to participate in Expo 2025, a major international exposition running from April to October 2025, under the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.” Belize is a participating country, and the Expo is expected to draw millions of visitors, showcasing global innovations and solutions to pressing challenges. A key part of the Prime Minister’s itinerary in Japan will be a bilateral meeting with Japan’s Prime Minister, Shigeru Ishiba. This meeting is anticipated to strengthen diplomatic ties and explore opportunities for enhanced cooperation between Belize and Japan. Prime Minister Briceño is expected to return to Belize on Saturday, August 5. In his absence, Cordel Hyde, Deputy Prime Minister, will serve as Acting Prime Minister.
