PM Briceño Says Contraceptive Rule Is Part of Wider Prescription Crackdown

While Fort George Area Representative Henry Charles Usher says he is not in a position to personally weigh in on the issue of access to contraceptives, Prime Minister John Briceño indicated on Friday that the recent policy forms part of a broader crackdown on the enforcement of prescription medication regulations.  According to the Prime Minister, the move is not isolated to contraceptives but reflects a wider push by health authorities to tighten oversight and ensure that medications are dispensed and used in a safe and regulated manner.

Love News understands that health officials have since met with the Belize Medical and Dental Association among others.  We further understand that the notice for enforcement was sent out to all pharmacists across the country in December last year.
