PM Briceño to Address UN General Assembly on Saturday

Prime Minister John Briceño is scheduled to deliver Belize’s national address at the United Nations General Assembly in New York City on Saturday.  Prime Minister Briceño, who departed Belize earlier this week, has already engaged in high-level engagements in New York, including meetings with small states leaders to address climate resilience, sustainable development goals, and economic transformation.  Foreign Affairs CEO Oscar Arnold confirmed the Prime Minister’s presentation time and encouraged Belizeans at home and abroad to follow the live broadcast.

Oscar Arnold, CEO, Ministry of Foreign Affairs: “I would want to invite all the news media and also Belizeans tomorrow, the Prime Minister, the Honourable John Briceño, does his intervention at the UN at 9 o’clock New York time, I believe that will be seven Belize time. And so there is a feed on the UN website so it would be very, very, very useful and helpful if our Belizeans can log in.”

The address comes as world leaders gather for the high-level General Debate of the 81st UNGA session, held under the theme “Restoring trust, managing transformation: A United Nations that delivers for all”.
