Monday is almost over, and an announcement from Prime Minister John Briceño on the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer for the Ministry of Home Affairs and Enterprise is yet to be delivered. The CEO post has remained vacant since last month’s Cabinet reshuffle. The issue came up during an interview with the Prime Minister on Friday, when he was asked why the ministry was still without a permanent head. At the time, Prime Minister Briceño indicated that a decision had been finalized and that an announcement would be made on Monday. Well, it is Monday, and that decision is yet to be announced. For context, here is how Friday’s interview went.

John Briceño, Prime Minister: “I’ll make the announcement on Monday. We’re pretty much there but I don’t want to jump to the gun until when I meet this individual. There are several people that were in the race including Admiral Bennett and even former Commissioner Chester Williams. Different, there are about four or five different persons that were brought up.”
During that exchange, the Prime Minister also confirmed that several individuals were considered for the position. Among those named were Admiral John Bennett and former Commissioner of Police Chester Williams, along with what he described as four or five possible candidates who were discussed during the selection process. Love News was also informed that Deputy Commissioner Bart Jones is the likely choice. Until an announcement is made, the acting CEO is Retired Major Francis Usher.
