Political leader of the PNM's Tobago Council and THA election candidate Ancil Dennis said the party is confident that it will be returned by the people of Tobago to the corridors of power in the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) after the election on January 12.

“The process was very smooth and it has been the same for all of our candidates thus far. We are looking forward now to the rest of this campaign and election day – very confident. I believe the TPP for the last four years has destroyed Tobago.

"Every sector in Tobago has gone backwards significantly – tourism sector, agriculture sector, the construction sector – you name it. I think the people of Tobago would make the right decision, which is a change,” Dennis said after he filed his nomination papers at the Buccoo Multipurpose Facility.

One of the people on hand at the multipurpose centre to support Dennis and the party's slate of candidates was PNM political leader Pennelope Beckles.

“We now look forward to victory on the 12 of January for the People’s National Movement. We are very positive, we are very energised and we are looking forward to victory – I mean we are looking for victory; we have a lot of good candidates,” Beckles said.
