PNP General Secretary, Dr Dayton Campbell is again seeking to clarify his previous suggestion that a future PNP administration will tax imported foods to develop its agricultural fund.
Earlier this year, the PNP came under fire after Dr Campbell stated at a political meeting that it was time to “put a little thing” on imported food.
The party later clarified that what Dr Campbell suggested, was an approach that earmarks existing taxes that are collected on imported food.
Speaking at the PNP’s Central Jamaica mass meeting in Mandeville on Sunday, Dr Campbell says the proposed agricultural fund will assist farmers who he says have been neglected by the government.
