The Opposition People’s National Party is calling on Mayor of Montego Bay, Councillor Richard Vernon, to cease and desist from removing the party’s advertising boards in the city.
General Secretary of the PNP, Dr. Dayton Campbell, says the removal of their campaign material is unlawful.
Dr. Campbell says Mayor Vernon and the Municipal Corporation have acted in desperation to intimidate and frustrate PNP candidates.
He’s calling on the Mayor to return the advertising boards.
Dr. Campbell added that the matter has also been referred to the Electoral Commission of Jamaica, ECJ.

In response, Mayor Vernon says he will address the matter on Thursday at the St. James Municipal Corporation’s meeting.
