PNP Describes Tourism Earnings Retained by Jamaica as An ‘Insulting Low’

Member of Parliament, MP, for North Central St Catherine, the People’s National Party’s, Natalie Neita-Garvey, has described the tourism earnings that are being retained by Jamaica as an insulting low.

In May 2024, Tourism Minister, Ed Bartlett reported that approximately 40 percent of the over 4-billion dollars that the tourism industry earned for the 2023-2024 fiscal year was retained in the Jamaican economy.

Speaking in the sectoral debate, Neita Garvey lamented what she says is the lack of opportunities for tourism workers.

Meanwhile, Neita Garvey has criticized the government for the lack of improvement in the infrastructure in resort towns.
