PNP, JLP Supporters Say Friendship Trumps Politics

A difference of political opinion shouldn’t come in the way of friendship.

That’s the view of four young women who live in the Newlands community of East Central St Catherine, in Portmore.

Daina Davy reports.

Our news centre caught up with Neisha Johnson, Oneisha Green, Julian Finlayson and Crystal DaCosta after the end of formal nomination day activities on Monday.

They were seated at the entrance of a bar refreshing themselves after a bruising few hours in the sun supporting their candidate of choice.

Two of them were clad in shirts bearing the image of Prime Minister and JLP leader Andrew Holness.

The other two wore shirts with the likeness of PNP candidate, Raymond Pryce.

Johnson told us why she is supporting the ruling JLP.

Newlands falls within the Gregory Park Division of East Central St Catherine.

It traditionally votes for the JLP and is being seen as one of the strongholds of the party’s candidate, Alando Terrelonge, who’s seeking a third term as MP.

But Green presented her case for backing the Opposition PNP.

The women say politics aside, they remain friends.
