Leader of the Opposition, People’s National Party, Mark Golding has extended warm Independence Day greetings to Jamaicans across South Florida, calling on the diaspora to reflect with pride on Jamaica’s global impact as the island marks its 63rd year of independence.

“I am pleased to extend Independence greetings to the Caribbean National Weekly and the Jamaican Diaspora across South Florida as we mark the 63rd anniversary of our beloved island’s independence,” Golding said.

Referencing this year’s theme, “Jamaica Brand We Love,” Golding noted that the country’s global recognition stems not only from its world-famous culture and achievements, but also from the spirit and values of its people.

“This year’s theme, ‘Jamaica Brand We Love,’ calls us to reflect with pride on the global admiration that Jamaica continues to inspire,” he said. “From our music, cuisine, and athletic excellence, to our natural beauty, cultural creativity, and fierce spirit of resilience, Jamaica has given the world a brand that is bold, vibrant, and unforgettable.”

He described the “Jamaica Brand” as more than just a logo or slogan. “It is a lived experience shaped by our people, both at home and abroad. It is the pulse of reggae in every corner of the globe, the fire in our Olympic strides, the flavour in our cuisine, and the warmth of our community,” he said.

“It is also found in our core values — justice, equality, and determination to uplift each other despite the odds.”

Golding praised Jamaicans in South Florida for their role in preserving and promoting Jamaica’s image abroad.

“To our Jamaican family in South Florida, I commend you for continuing to represent Brand Jamaica with dignity, excellence, and authenticity. You have helped to keep the spirit of our nation alive and strong across generations and borders,” he said.

As the nation reflects on its journey since gaining independence in 1962, Golding urged Jamaicans to look ahead with unity and optimism. “As we celebrate this milestone, let us renew our commitment to building a Jamaica that reflects the very best of our brand — resilient, progressive, and united in love,” he said.

“Happy Independence, and may Jamaica continue to shine brightly on the world stage.”
