Neita Garvey stressed the need for the modernisation of fire services in the country, citing a reduced capacity to respond effectively to evolving risks, including climate-related threats such as wildfires.
She also called for a comprehensive audit of fire hydrants across the island, and the development of a national hydrant maintenance programme.
Mrs Neita Garvey says the PNP plans to build new fire stations and upgrade existing ones in line with international safety standards.
Garvey also announced plans for a community-based emergency response programme for volunteers.
