PNP’s Defense of Wellington’s ‘War’ Comments Egregious – Morgan

Member of the JLP’s Communication Task Force, Senator Marlon Morgan, says the Opposition PNP’s defence of the Dr. Miranda Wellington ‘war’ comment is egregious.

Dr. Wellington, the PNP caretaker for South West St. Elizabeth, told comrades at a PNP meeting in Frome, Westmoreland on Sunday that, “this is not going to be an easy victory, but I want you to know that we are prepared for war, and if a war, a war.”

The PNP jumped to her defence, criticising the ruling JLP for amplifying the backlash she’s facing.

According to PNP General Secretary, Dr. Dayton Campbell, Dr. Wellington’s remarks were reflective of the pressures faced by women in politics.

Senator Morgan is renewing his call for Opposition Leader Mark Golding to direct Dr. Wellington to apologise for her comments.

He says the PNP’s reaction to the matter differs greatly from the JLP’s response to Everald Warmington’s comments on another political stage.
