The opposition People’s National Party, PNP, has taken another jab at national security minister, Dr Horace Chang, for what it says is his ineffectiveness in office.

While outlining plans to further curb the country’s crime rate, Dr Chang told the House of Representatives on Tuesday that the security forces are probing over 100 unresolved conflicts and people linked to criminal acts.

But in a statement on Thursday, the PNP suggested that Dr Chang’s remarks were empty, recycled and contradicting.

It further noted that the minister’s figures have been repeatedly used in previous years.

The PNP says the recycled numbers raise questions about the credibility of the government’s data and the effectiveness of its efforts.

The PNP is urging Dr. Chang to desist from what it says are continuous vague references and provide the people of Jamaica with clear strategies to address crime.
