PNP Wants AudG to Probe Spending on Annotto Bay Coastal Protection Project

The People’s National Party, PNP, is calling for the auditor general to investigate the $244 million spent on the Annotto Bay Coastal Protection Project.

In a statement on Monday, the PNP caretaker for South East St. Mary, Christopher Brown, says there needs to be a full and transparent independent investigation into the significant public cost of the project.

According to the PNP, the price tag for the overall project is causing disquiet among residents of Annotto Bay. It’s questioning the scope and value of the actual work done.

The party is calling on the government to provide a full, public report detailing the total cost, the procurement process used to select subcontractors and service providers, independent verification of the work completed and the community consultation and engagement throughout the process.
