The opposition People’s National Party, PNP, is calling on the auditor general to conduct a special audit of the Cornwall Regional Hospital rehabilitation project.
The call came in a statement issued on Thursday by all five PNP caretakers in St. James.
They say after eight years and $24 billion spent, there’s still no Cornwall Regional Hospital.
Caretaker for South St. James, Nekeisha Burchell, says what began as a response to air quality concerns has ballooned into a scandal.

The PNP says the project should be audited to hold those responsible for the significant cost overruns and prolonged delays to account. The party adds that an audit will also ensure that tax dollars are not being mismanaged.
Caretaker for West Central St. James, Dr. Andre Haughton, says every delay of the project is another risk to someone’s life in western Jamaica.
Caretaker for Central St. James, Senator Janice Allen, shared those sentiments.
