Jamaica’s international reputation is at serious risk of being compromised by the recent actions of members of the governing Jamaica Labour Party, JLP.
That’s the claim from Opposition Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs, Dr. Angela Brown-Burke. Dr. Brown Burke gave the assessment as part of her Sectoral Debate presentation on Tuesday.

According to Dr. Angela Brown Burke, Dennis Chung’s appointment is fuelling a potential crisis in governance.
The point of order was upheld by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Juliet Holness. She cautioned Dr. Brown-Burke against making such statements without proof.
Dr. Brown Burke proceeded, noting that the government’s recent actions do not reflect well on Jamaica’s international reputation.
The Financial Action Task Force, FATF, is the global money laundering and terrorist financing watchdog. It sets international standards that aim to prevent these illegal activities and the harm they cause to society.
Jamaica has worked hard in terms of legislative reform to be removed from the dreaded FATF grey list, which complicated the country’s global commercial banking relations.
Dr. Brown Burke concluded her presentation appealing to Jamaica’s international partners to continue holding the country to the highest standard despite what she sees as the careless actions of the current administration.
