Police and Prosecutors Complete Justice Training Workshop in Southern Belize

Police officers and prosecutors from southern Belize recently came together for a two-day training workshop aimed at strengthening cooperation between investigators and prosecutors in the criminal justice system.  The Joint Police-Prosecutor Training Workshop was organized through the Partnership between the Caribbean and the European Union on Justice, better known as PACE Justice, in collaboration with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Belize Police Department.  The sessions focused on improving coordination between police investigators and prosecutors to help build stronger cases and improve the delivery of justice. Leading the workshop were former Jamaican Director of Public Prosecutions Paula Llewellyn, King’s Counsel, and legal expert Anselmo del Moral Torres, who shared their knowledge and experience with participants.  Representatives from southern Belize took an active role throughout the workshop, contributing to discussions and engaging fully in the practical sessions. According to the organizers, the training provided a valuable opportunity for officers and prosecutors to exchange ideas, strengthen working relationships, and sharpen the skills needed to investigate and prosecute cases more effectively.
