Police Commissioner Dr. Richard Rosado has clarified that the decision to move Police Constable Barrington Flowers from interdiction on half pay to interdiction on full pay was made by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bart Jones, and was done to correct an administrative error. According to information obtained by Love News, PC Flowers should have initially been placed on suspension, rather than immediate interdiction. The adjustment in pay status was therefore made to rectify that procedural mistake, not to provide special treatment or undermine due process. Commissioner Rosado said the matter is being handled strictly in accordance with the Security Services Regulations and emphasized that there is nothing untoward about the interdiction terms currently in place.

Dr. Richard Rosado, Commissioner of Police: “The policy of the department that an individual is suspended while an investigation is ongoing. It is also the policy of the department if a police officer is arrested and charged then they automatically go into interdiction. So there’s a policy in place and we are abiding by the policies of the department.”
Reporter: And Corporal Choco, he has been recorded saying that he was induced to give a false statement to comply with investigators. What’s your response to that?
Dr. Richard Rosado, Commissioner of Police: “Like I said, I will not comment on any ongoing investigation or prejudge any ongoing investigation.”
The commissioner’s clarification comes amid public concern and calls from Public Service Union President Dean Flowers for the Ministry of Home Affairs to probe the circumstances surrounding the case. PSU officials had questioned how an officer on interdiction could be placed on full pay, especially with the possibility of criminal charges looming. Rosado reiterated that interdiction is an administrative process and does not imply guilt. PC Barrington Flowers remains on interdiction as the matter continues under review
