Police in Punta Gorda are searching for a man in connection with a reported domestic violence incident that left a woman hospitalized yesterday evening. Shortly after seven o’clock, officers responded to the Punta Gorda Community Hospital after receiving a report that a woman had been injured in an alleged stabbing. At the hospital, police met a 39-year-old woman of the Indian Ville area. According to investigators, she reported that her former common-law husband had entered her home earlier that evening. She told police that during a conversation, the husband appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and allegedly threatened her before attacking her with a knife. Police say the woman sustained several injuries to her hands, arm and upper body while attempting to defend herself. Trapp received treatment and was admitted to the hospital for further medical care. Police also issued her medico-legal forms. Her five-year-old child was found unharmed and has been placed in the care of family members. No charges have been filed at this time, and the allegations have not yet been tested in court. Police say their investigation remains ongoing and efforts are underway to locate Noralez.
