Police Investigate Apparent Drowning in Caledonia Village on Christmas Day

Police in the Corozal District are investigating an apparent drowning reported on Christmas Day in Caledonia Village. According to initial information, around 12:30 on Thursday afternoon, police responded to reports of a body discovered along a riverbank in the village. Upon arrival, officers identified the deceased as 45-year-old Belizean laborer Eludoro Moh. According to ASP Stacy Smith attempts to resuscitate Moh were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Stacy Smith, Assistant Superintendent of Police: “What the investigators have ascertained so far is that Moh left his home sometime around 10:30am and at that time he was observed to be under the influence of alcohol. At around 12:30pm the brother of Moh was advised that his body was observed in the river and it was later removed and attempts were made to resuscitate him. However, those attempts were unsuccessful.”

 Moh’s body was transported to the morgue, where it remains pending a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
