Police Investigate Death of 68-Year-Old Man Found in Orange Walk

Police are investigating the death of a 68-year-old man whose body was discovered this morning in the Orange Walk District. The deceased has been identified as Virginio Carillo. Police say no missing person report had been filed for Carillo prior to the discovery of his body. The discovery was made at around 9:30 this morning in the San Lazaro Village area, where authorities have since launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

ACP Hilberto Romero, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch: “Police went to the area near a cane field road where they saw the lifeless body of a male person identified as Virginio Carrillo. He was observed with several chop wounds. Police are presently processing the scene at this time. Criminal background no.”

Reporter: Motive ? 

ACP Hilberto Romero, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch: “ We do not know at this time. The information just came in this morning and we are dealing with it. He left from his workplace and he was going to his farm. Somebody who was going to one of the cane fields, saw the body and he called the police.”

Police say the investigation remains active as they work to determine the motive behind the killing and identify those responsible.
