Police Investigate Early Morning Shooting That Damaged Sandhill Home

Police are investigating a shooting incident that resulted in damage to a home in Sandhill Village along the Philip Goldson Highway.  Reports are that shortly after four o’clock on Monday morning, Sydney Prince, a forty-nine-year-old self-employed resident of the area, visited the Sand Hill Police Station to report the incident.  Prince told police that around 2:50 a.m. he was awakened by approximately five loud bangs that sounded like gunshots. After the noise subsided, he exited his 25-by-35-foot concrete bungalow and observed that the glass window to his bedroom had been shattered.  Further inspection revealed what appeared to be five bullet holes on the front glass door of the bedroom, which faces the highway. Prince then checked inside the room where he discovered additional apparent bullet damage to his bed and bedroom wall.  Police visited and processed the scene, where investigators recovered expended nine-millimeter shells and fragments. The area was photographed and examined by Scenes of Crime personnel as part of the ongoing investigation.  Authorities say the cost of the damage has not yet been determined, and at this time no suspects have been identified. Investigators are also seeking to review surveillance footage from nearby properties as they continue to gather information into the early morning shooting.
