Police in Belize City are investigating the fatal stabbing of forty-three-year-old construction worker Marlon Usher, who succumbed to his injuries on Sunday night. Authorities say that shortly after nine-fifteen p.m., officers were alerted to a stabbing victim being transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. When police arrived at the Accident and Emergency section, Usher was receiving treatment for multiple stab wounds. He was later pronounced dead at nine-thirty-nine p.m. Initial investigations indicate that Usher had been walking alone along Doris Brooks Street on his way to visit a family friend when he was approached from behind by a male assailant who inflicted several stab wounds. Despite his injuries, Usher reportedly managed to run into a residence at number two Doris Brooks Street, where he collapsed. He was then taken to KHMH but later succumbed. Assistant Superintendent of Police Stacy Smith says investigators have processed the scene and continue to follow several leads in the case.

Brenda Usher, Mother of Victim: “When my son came up and told me I felt hurt but I didn’t know it was death. So they went on their cycle to see what happened. When they came back they were crying. So I asked what happened and they said “he died.” And well that is as far as I know. I was trying to force them to get out and I asked the young lady to leave him alone. So they ended up leaving alone but then it looks like they left alone like she probably still came back that I don’t know I’m not sure and he must have still been messing around or whatever and this young man has hatred against me son. Everybody saw it and the people at the house know everything, they know more than me so I hope they would come out and say exactly what they saw and what they know. I plead to them to please bring it out in the news, bring it out to the police to help me for them to pick up that little young man. I don’t have anything to bury my son and I appeal to even the government, even Mr. Gilroy Usher from back here please come see me and please help them to bury my little boy so that he can have a decent funeral.”
Meanwhile, Usher’s mother, Brenda Usher, told Love News that the family was at home when they received the devastating news. She indicated that the killing may be linked to a relationship her son was involved in at the time.
