Police Investigate Holiday Burglary, Recover Firearm Near Primary School

On Saturday morning, Police responded to a burglary report at Om Indian Restaurant on Newtown Barracks in Belize City. The owner reported that the business had been secured the previous night but was found broken into the next morning, with entry gained through the removal of a kitchen heat extraction fan. Police processed the scene, and a list of stolen items is still being compiled.  Later that day, police conducting follow-up investigations into a Christmas Day shooting recovered a 9mm firearm from a drain in front of Queen Square Primary School on Armadillo Street. The weapon, which had no serial number, was seized and has been sent to the National Forensic Science Service for analysis.  All incidents remain under active investigation, and police continue to appeal to the public for information that may assist in resolving the cases recorded over the Christmas holiday period.
