Police Probe Christmas Morning Fatal Shooting in Bella Vista Village

Police in the Toledo District are investigating the fatal shooting of 25-year-old Archibald Ferrell, also known as “Fafa,” which occurred in the early hours of Christmas morning in the village of Bella Vista. A nearby resident reportedly heard several gunshots around 2 o clock that morning and alerted police.  Authorities say police responded to reports of gunfire in the area and, upon arrival, found Ferrell suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Initial investigations indicate that Ferrell was walking home at the time of the incident. ASP Stacy Smith provided details on what investigators have determined so far.

Stacy Smith, Assistant Superintendent of Police: “What investigators have gathered so far in the ongoing investigation is that at the aforementioned date and time Pharrell was walking on an unmanned street in that village when he was fatally shot by an unknown male person. Intelligence has suggested a probable motive as to why he may have been targeted and the investigators are following up on that in this ongoing investigation.”

During the update on the investigation, ASP Smith said police have identified a probable motive in the case; however, investigators are not expanding on those details at this time, noting that additional information will be released when appropriate. No arrests have been made at this time. It is understood that Ferrell had recently returned to Belize from Honduras however his family has declined to comment at this time, as investigations continue./
