The Police High Command says investigations are well underway into a shooting incident in the constituency of Central Kingston on Tuesday.
It’s reported that shots were fired in the direction of MP Donovan Williams and his campaign team while they erected party signs in the constituency.
No one was injured.
In a statement on Thursday, the High Command says it’s treating the matter seriously.
The JCF says it maintains a zero-tolerance approach to violence in all forms, including any act that may be politically motivated.
The Force is urging all Jamaicans to refrain from any form of political violence.
It’s calling on the public to play their part in ensuring that the upcoming election remains free, fair, and free from fear.
The JCF is urging all individuals with relevant information to come forward and support the process of justice.
It says the safety and security of all Jamaicans remains its highest priority.
