Police search for runaway driver in Penal fatal

Police are searching for the driver of a van which struck and killed a 30-year-old housewife in Penal on Saturday night.

She has been identified as Afros Lalloo Deonanan of six mile mark  Penal Rock Road.

Initial information stated that around 8.05 pm, she was walking along the Penal Rock Road near Hope Trace when a speeding  white Isuzu swerved to the extreme left and slammed  into  her, dragging her along the roadway.

The van, which was proceeding towards Moruga, never stopped.

Deonanan’s body was left in the middle of the road. A district medical officer viewed the body and ordered its removal to the Forensic Science Centre.
