A heated confrontation between two women escalated into a physical fight, resulting in one of them sustaining injuries certified as “wounding” by a medical professional. The incident, which occurred yesterday near the roundabout in Belmopan City, has led to a police search for the alleged aggressor, one Ida Garcia. According to a police report filed by Neydy Lopez, a 39-year-old businesswoman from Franks Eddy Village, she was at a vegetable vendor on Constitution Drive when she saw Ida Garcia approaching. Lopez, who knows Garcia as the current partner of her ex-common-law husband, stated that Garcia had been harassing her for over a year with unwanted messages. To avoid a confrontation, Lopez tried to walk away and got into her vehicle. Lopez reported that Garcia followed her, opened the driver’s side door, and began shouting, “Stop texting Yasir!” As Lopez attempted to de-escalate the situation by calling her ex-husband, Garcia allegedly threw Lopez’s phone, grabbed her by the arm, and pulled her hair. A physical fight ensued, during which Lopez was pulled to the ground. A second, unidentified woman who was with Garcia then intervened, pulling Lopez and punching her on the forehead, causing a noticeable swelling. Lopez, who suffered a scratch on her left arm and a swollen forehead, was issued a medico-legal form and sought treatment at the Western Regional Hospital. Based on her statement, police are seeking to locate and question Ida Garcia for the crime of Wounding. Authorities attempted to locate Garcia at her residence in Camalote Village, Cayo District, but she was not at home.
