Officers assigned to Operation R.E.S.O.L.U.T.E. Shield seized a firearm, ammunition, and a stolen motor vehicle during an intelligence-led operation in the Morvant and Laventille districts.
The targeted exercise took place between 4:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Acting on information received, law enforcement personnel carried out searches across several locations.
At approximately 5:40 p.m., officers searched the attic area on the fourth floor of Building 2 at the Dorata Street Plannings. The search yielded a silver and brown firearm equipped with an extended magazine containing 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition. Officers also discovered a black bag nearby that held an additional 49 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
The weapon and ammunition were secured and taken to the Crime Scene Investigation Department at the San Juan Police Station. Later that evening, at around 8:30 p.m., patrolling officers spotted a white Nissan AD Wagon parked under suspicious circumstances along the roadway in the Plaisance Terrace, Marcano Quarry, Beverly Hills area.
An inspection revealed that the vehicle’s doors were open, the ignition had been tampered with, and a rear triangular window was shattered. Investigators discovered that the registration plates attached to the wagon were fraudulent. Further verification with the Inter-Agency Task Force Joint Command confirmed that the vehicle had been reported stolen from the La Horquetta Police District on July 18. The wagon was towed to the Besson Street Police Station for forensic processing.
The exercise was led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Hazel, Senior Superintendent Ramnarine, Superintendent Ramsook, and Assistant Superintendent Singh. Field coordination and supervision were handled by Acting Inspector Price.
Following the initial command, Hazel, Ramnarine, Ramsook, Singh, and Price oversaw the execution of the operation across both districts. Enquiries into both recoveries are ongoing.
