An incident in which shots were fired near a JLP meeting in Allman Town on Sunday evening was not politically motivated.
This is according to head of the Kingston Central Police Division, Superintendent Berrisford Williams.
Attendees at the meeting were forced to take cover when the gunshots rang out in the vicinity of the gathering.
The incident happened while Member of Parliament Donovan Williams was at the lectern.
While the gunshots were not audible during the live stream of the meeting, sources on the ground reported hearing four or five explosions.
Williams was forced to pause his speech, taking cover and moving away from the lectern.
Superintendent Williams says no one was injured.
The Central Kingston Commanding Officer also says the division will be reviewing deployment strategies for political meetings.
