Police Urge Road Safety During September Celebrations

The Belize Police Department is urging motorists and the wider public to prioritize safety throughout the September Celebrations. Commissioner of Police Dr. Richard Rosado and the department’s rank and file have extended greetings to Belizeans as the country marks 45 years of independence, while reminding everyone that celebrating responsibly can help save lives.  Drivers are being advised not to drink and drive, avoid using electronic devices behind the wheel, wear seat belts and remain within established speed limits. The department is also encouraging road users to exercise patience, respect one another and remain alert throughout the festive period.  The Police Department says keeping the celebrations safe is a shared responsibility and is encouraging the public to report incidents to the nearest police station or call 911.
