Trinidad and Tobago wicketkeeper-batsman, Nicholas Pooran, a former West Indies T20 captain, has called time on his international career.
Pooran, who has spent the last two years as the world’s leading run getter in the T20 format, missed the ongoing West Indies tour of England, citing a need for rest after a particularly hectic Indian Premier League season.
The resignation, Pooran says, does not indicate that his love for West Indies has diminished in any way, though his missive on Instagram gave no reason.
“Though this international chapter of my career closes, my love for West Indies cricket will never fade,” he wrote.
“I wish the team and the region nothing but success and strength for the road ahead.”
The 29-yea-old Pooran walks away from the international game having played 106 T20s for the West Indies, scoring 2,275 runs at an average of 26.1 with a strike rate of 136.4. He has a high score of 98.
