Dancehall giants Popcaan and Chronic Law are starting the new year with a powerful anthem for the youth of St. Thomas and fans worldwide. Their second collaboration, Kick it wid Myself, is set to drop under Unruly Entertainment, 1Law Entertainment, and DropTop Records. The music video was scheduled to appear on Friday and the song will be available on all platforms next week.
Kick it wid Myself, a press release stated, “is a bold reflection on loyalty, betrayal, and self-reliance, echoing the sentiments of self-assurance and independence that both artistes embody”.
The track is drenched in the melodic essence fans have come to love from Popcaan, paired with Chronic Law’s introspective and relatable storytelling. The track emphasises the necessity of standing alone when faced with disloyalty, as both artistes unapologetically proclaim their comfort in “kicking it” by themselves.
Popcaan shared his thoughts on the significance of releasing this track as the new year unfolds.
“The start of the year is the perfect time to clear your energy and focus on what matters. It’s for everyone who’s had to deal with fake people in their lives. The message is simple - know your worth and never settle for bad energy.”
Chronic Law echoed a similar sentiment, emphasising the track’s relatability.
“The people will love this one because it’s real. This song speaks to staying grounded and true to yourself.”
Following the overwhelming reception of St. Thomas Native, which became an anthem of pride and connection for their shared hometown, Kick it wid Myself is poised to build on that success.
“It promises to deliver a new layer of authenticity and depth to their growing catalogue of hits. Fans can expect a relatable and impactful anthem that inspires self-reflection and empowerment for the year ahead,” the release concluded.
