Dancehall star Popcaan has clapped back at critics questioning his involvement in Jamaica’s Hurricane Melissa relief efforts, reminding fans that his charitable work is nothing new. The St. Thomas native took to Instagram to address the chatter, sharing a heartfelt message and a video of his Popcaan Care Foundation’s ongoing outreach across St. Thomas, Montego Bay, and Westmoreland.
“To all my fans and peeps that been showing concern if I’m good, I’m bless! I’ve just been out all around the island connecting with my people and helping who I can and playing my part,” Popcaan wrote. “And those who saying I’m not helping anyone — the Popcaan Care Foundation has been actively helping people for years now, not just because of Melissa. But I won’t run to post and show everyone I help or support.”
The video showed Popcaan distributing supplies and comforting affected residents, reinforcing his long-standing reputation for community involvement. His fans were quick to rally behind him in the comments, praising his humility and consistency. “Poppy is forever fixing Jamaica,” one fan wrote, while another added, “You’ve been doing this long before others saw the need. The real fans know — Jamaica love you just like how you love us!”
The post comes as Popcaan ushers in a new musical chapter with his faith-driven 12-track EP Nothing Without God, released November 7. The project — featuring collaborations with Chronic Law and Natebadz — blends themes of gratitude, perseverance, and divine purpose. With producers like Anju Blaxx, Droptop Records, and Joel Engineer at the helm, Nothing Without God captures Popcaan’s evolution as both an artist and humanitarian, balancing street credibility with spiritual maturity.
As his foundation continues to reach hurricane-affected communities, the Unruly Boss is proving that his impact extends far beyond music. For Popcaan, it’s not about validation — it’s about purpose.
