Produced by frontman Damon Albarn alongside Remi Kabaka Jr. and The Twilite Tone, the song blends alternative, electronic, and dancehall influences. It also represents Gorillaz’s second collaboration with Popcaan, recorded during sessions in Jamaica.
Upon release, “Saturnz Barz” performed strongly on international charts, reaching No. 1 on the U.S. Bubbling Under Hot 100 and No. 5 on the Hot Rock Songs chart. It was later ranked among the 50 Best Songs of 2017 by Rolling Stone.
Nearly a decade after its debut, the track’s Silver certification highlights its enduring popularity and continued streaming success worldwide.
