Social media personality Pops YG, whose real name is Ansel Fairclough, was arrested by police in Trelawny late Monday, his attorney, Donnovan Collins, has confirmed.
Collins, however, declined to disclose the circumstances surrounding his client’s latest arrest, offering no further details about the matter. He confirmed that Fairclough is expected to participate in an identification parade as investigations continue.
Meanwhile, law enforcement sources have indicated that the arrest was carried out by detectives from the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA), which is reportedly investigating allegations that the social media personality allegedly engaged in sexual activities with a minor.
According to the sources, Fairclough was taken into custody after reporting to the Falmouth Police Station to comply with conditions attached to his pre-charge bail.
The latest development comes weeks after Fairclough was arrested at his home in Trelawny alongside three other men while they were livestreaming on TikTok.
At the time, his attorney said the social media personality had been arrested on reasonable suspicion of breaches of the Law Reform (Fraudulent Transactions) (Special Provisions) Act, commonly known as Jamaica’s lottery scam law.
Fairclough was subsequently released on pre-charge bail as investigations into that matter continued.
It remains unclear whether the latest arrest is connected to the earlier investigation or relates to a separate matter. The allegations reportedly being investigated by CISOCA have not been established in court, and further details surrounding the case have not been publicly confirmed.
