Caribbean Airlines (CAL) has signed a codeshare agreement with Guadeloupe-based Air Caraïbes to offer flights to Paris’ Orly Airport. Under the agreement, CAL will operate the regional legs to and from Martinique and Guadeloupe, while Air Caraïbes will handle the transatlantic service between mainland France and Martinique/Guadeloupe. The new service begins on September 2 and offers an alternative connection to mainland Europe.
The agreement allows travellers to check in for a CAL flight in Port of Spain, fly to Martinique or Guadeloupe, and then connect to an Air Caraïbes flight to Paris without purchasing a separate ticket. A formal announcement from both carriers is pending, but Air Caraïbes has already listed flights for sale on its website.
According to its website, Air Caraïbes has several other codeshare agreements, including with Winnair and Iberia. These allow the airline either to sell tickets under its own flight number while the partner operates the service, or to operate the flight while the partner sells tickets under its own flight number.
CAL added Martinique and Guadeloupe to its network last year and currently operates several weekly direct and nonstop flights to the French Caribbean.
