Postman Accused of Stabbing Girlfriend in Domestic Dispute

Postman Tyrone Davis, already facing a criminal charge related to tampering with the mail, is once again before the court, but this time, it’s not about the mail, it’s about a domestic dispute that allegedly turned violent. The 41-year-old postal clerk, a resident of Euphrates Avenue, was arraigned this morning in Belize City Magistrate’s Court, where he was read a single charge of wounding. The charge stems from a confrontation with his 32-year-old girlfriend, who claims Davis stabbed her with a pair of scissors during a heated altercation at his home last month. According to police, the incident occurred on Sunday, May 18, around 3:00 p.m., when Davis’s girlfriend visited his home and allegedly caught him with another woman. She told investigators that upon hearing a female voice inside his room, she confronted Davis and found another woman on his bed. The confrontation escalated quickly. During the argument, the woman said she threw Davis’s fan to the floor, prompting a struggle between the two. She claimed Davis threw her onto the bed, began to choke her, and during the struggle, she felt a sharp pain in her leg. Upon checking, she saw a black-handled pair of scissors lodged in her upper leg. She further alleges that Davis then pulled out a knife and appeared remorseful.  The woman later sought medical attention and reported the incident to police on May 23. A medico-legal form was issued, and a doctor classified her injury as wounding. Davis was detained and charged on June 5. Davis, who appeared unrepresented before a Senior Magistrate in Court #2, pleaded not guilty to the offense. Bail was granted in the sum of $1,000 plus one surety of the same amount. The bail conditions include no contact with the virtual complainant or her family, and a 25-foot restraining order. Any breach of these conditions could result in bail being revoked. He is scheduled to return to court on August 11, 2025, when disclosure in the matter is expected.
