Several Records tumbled on Wednesday’s opening day of the three-day INSPORTS/Devon Biscuits Primary Schools Eastern Championship at the Stadium East.
Mickoloy Saunders of Lyssons Primary broke the first record in the boys’ 800-metres clocking 2:35.94, well below the previous mark of 2:39.83 set last year by his schoolmate Yohance Carty.
Romeann Gray of Seaside Primary in Portland smashed the girls’ 800-metres open winning heat one in 2:31.51.

Lyssons broke the third record winning their heat of the girls’ 4-by-200-metres relay in 1:50.74 erasing Harbour View’s 2023 record of 1:54.87.
Lyssons returned and broke the boy’s 4-by-200-metres record stopping the clock at 1:45.80, well below the old mark of 1:51.80 set by St Jude’s last year.
The fifth record belonged to Shemika Dobbs of Windward Road winning the Class-4 girls 60 metres in 9.17 seconds, removing Sunjai KirkPatrick of Alpha from the record books.
Ten finals are scheduled for day two of the three day INSPORTS/Devon Biscuits Primary Schools Eastern Championship now underway at the Stadium East.
Lyssons Primary from St. Thomas are the defending champions and their coach, Myton Worrell, is confident they can secure their third title.

Meanwhile, coach of St. Richard’s, Byron McLeod, believes he has the quality athletes to regain the trophy they lost in 2022.
