EACH YEAR, International Noise Awareness Day (INAD) reminds us of the serious damaging impact excessive noise can have on our hearing health. As we commemorate INAD 2025, the Jamaica Association for the Deaf Hearing Services (JADHS) is committed to raising awareness about the dangers of noise-induced hearing loss and providing effective solutions to safeguard auditory well-being.
From bustling streets to workplace environments, prolonged exposure to high noise levels can lead to permanent hearing damage. Many individuals unknowingly suffer from gradual hearing loss caused by unprotected exposure to loud sounds – a reality that can significantly impacts quality of life.
At JADHS, we believe in prevention over cure. Our high-quality noise plugs provide a reliable barrier against harmful sound levels, ensuring protection whether you are in a loud work environment, attending events, or engaging in everyday activities. By wearing proper hearing protection, individuals and organisations can actively reduce the risk of long-term hearing damage.
Businesses and institutions play a vital role in protecting employees and members from excessive noise exposure. Investing in noise plugs as part of workplace safety measures demonstrates a commitment to employee wellness and helps foster a healthier, more productive work environment. Organisations can also collaborate with JADHS to integrate hearing protection into their health and safety initiatives.
As we observe INAD 2025, JADHS encourages everyone – from individuals to organisations – to take proactive steps in preserving hearing health. Whether through education advocacy, or simply adopting noise plugs in daily routines, every effort contributes to a world where hearing protection is prioritised and widely accessible. JAD Hearing Services specialises in custom-made ear plugs. These are available for everyone, including musicians, others in the entertainment industry, and industrial workers. Importantly too, JAD Hearing Services provides hearing testing and hearing aids for children and adults. Let us work together to make hearing protection a habit, not an afterthought!
